Let's see if I can remember what all is coming in...asparagus, baby beets, sugar pod peas, pac-choi, kale, spinach, romaine and buttercrunch lettuce. I think that's it. It will get to be a longer list in the next few weeks when the broccoli starts coming in. And there is always the ever popular fruit tarts. Come to Sault F

Snow peas have pods, one of the tomato plants and one of the pepper plants have flowers. Outside, welanted plenty more broccoli plants, and bean, pea and rutabaga seeds. Leek sets are out, too. Sault Farmer's Market Opening Day is 15 May. We'll be there with romaine lettuce, buttercrunch lettuce, pac choi, kale and of course the rustic apple tarts, featuring the new personal size as well as the traditional full size. Peas, broccoli, beets, carrots, basil all coming along nicely in the hoophouse. Recent frosts had Seed orders have mainly arrived. Spinach and lettuce are planted under lights and should be ready to transplant out into the hoophouse in a few weeks.
It will be spring in the hoophouse soon (in fact we were weeding in the greenhouse yesterday) but here's what it looks like outside where it's still winter. In the meantime, we're selling rustic apple tarts at the Sault Winter Market, Saturdays 9:30 to 12:30 at Bayliss Public Library. The tarts feature Michigan apples in an all butter crust. Yum. |
